"Nature always wins."
—Poison Ivy's final words[src]

Botanist Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley was transformed into a plant-human hybrid by a science experiment gone wrong. With chlorophyll flowing through her veins instead of blood, she developed a toxic touch and a pheromone-fueled talent for seduction.

Her crimes became more ecologically focused as she had increasingly abandoned her human side and identified more with the natural world. Her unique brand of eco-terrorism often put her into conflict with Batman, whose iron will usually protected him from her seductive powers.

Since her encounter with the Dark Knight on Arkham Island, Ivy had been transferred to Arkham City. After she took refuge in a vine-covered stronghold, Ivy kept humanity away rather than participating in the gang wars of Arkham City. Her presence would go unnoticed until Catwoman sought her out. There, she began plotting destruction for Gotham. Months later, she helped Batman eradicate Scarecrow's Fear Toxin by sacrificing herself. A small plant would start to grow from the pollen-like remains of her body, reincarnating Ivy five years later in the form of a child.

Biography

Incident Reports

Arkham Origins Incident

At this point, Pamela Isley was still a meek botanist who interned under Dr. Jason Woodrue. At North Gotham, her store, Baudelaire's advertised her as the current proprietor.

Cold, Cold Heart Incident

Pamela Isley's I.D. badge on the security desk in the Lobby at GothCorp.

Later on New Years Eve, Pamela had presumably graduated from her university and was invited by Ferris Boyle to be a visiting specialist at GothCorp, by helping his company to develop strains of freeze resistant food plants for farming in cold climates and the possible colonization of Mars.

During Mr. Freeze's assault on GothCorp, Pamela's I.D. badge could be found at the reception area.

Between Arkham Origins and Assault on Arkham Incident

Sometime before The Joker's takeover of Arkham Asylum, Pamela Isley was transformed by her mentor, Dr. Woodrue, by a toxic, potentially lethal cocktail of phytohormones that he had forced her to ingest. She spent six months at the Seattle General Intensive Care Unit, where it was predicted that she would die within her first month there. While there she learned to use her newfound connection to plant life, including the lone Glorissa orchid Woodrue had left for her, to gain her strength and then much more, rechristening herself "Poison Ivy" to distance herself from the "timid wallflower" Pamela Isley. She then forcibly planted a deadly kiss on a specialist who checked up on her, thus claiming her first victim.

Allying herself with plant life, which she viewed as far less treacherous than humanity, she released poisonous plant spores into Gotham City in an act of revenge, killing hundreds. It was presumably during this rampage that she had first made the acquaintance of another former doctor-turned-terrorist by the name of Harley Quinn.

Eventually, she was defeated and captured. Deemed insane, Ivy was then incarcerated into Arkham Asylum. Sadly, her mental condition deteriorated further, and she became convinced that, far from being mutated, she was now the incarnation of Mother Nature herself.

Assault on Arkham Incident

Poison Ivy could be seen as one of the many prison inmates that were set free by the Joker. First glimpsed when the Arkham staff had infiltrated the Botanical Gardens, Ivy would be reunited with her plants and would easily lay waste to the guards. Later on, several vines grabbed unsuspecting guards and inmates, and took them to Ivy, where she would brainwash them with her pheromones, and rendered them into her infatuated muscle. During the attempted breach on the bridge, Ivy would take command of one of her Venus plants and attempt to push through the final line of defense on the bridge. In retaliation, the guards used smokes grenades to thin out the rabid crowd as well as send Ivy back into the vicinity of Arkham Asylum, where she was presumably apprehended and sent back to her cell.

Road to Arkham Incident

Years later, Ivy would try to escape by using her mind control pheromones on her doctors. Dr. Young proved immune to her abilities (her powers only affected males) so she turned her attention to Doctor Kellerman; and threatened to kill him if the asylum Warden, Quincy Sharp, didn't release her.

Sadly for her, Sharp refused to bow to blackmail and Ivy was locked in solitary confinement in the Penitentiary for her efforts.

Worse, Dr. Young would later begin altering the local plant life to produce the chemicals that were needed for her Titan experiments. Ivy could feel all the cruel alterations made to the plants and was desperate to end Young's experiments, but was unable to do anything or even pass on her knowledge of Dr. Young's crimes to the other doctors due to her being in lockdown.

Arkham Asylum Incident

Ivyarkham14

Poison Ivy in her cell at The Green Mile in the Penitentiary on Arkham Island

Batman, while searching for the Warden in the Penitentiary of Arkham Asylum, came across Poison Ivy in her cell. Poison Ivy desperately pleaded to Batman to save her plants as she could sense that they were in pain. Batman disregarded the plea and proceeded to tell Poison Ivy to stay in her cell. After Batman had saved the Warden, Harley Quinn made her way back, past Ivy. Ivy pleaded with Harley to let her go so that she could rescue her 'babies'. Harley refused at first because Ivy wasn't on the Joker's 'party list', but gave in rather quickly. Harley let Poison Ivy free. As Ivy walked away, she blew Harley a kiss and made her way over to the Botanical Gardens.

After he defeated Harley, Batman made his way to the Botanical Gardens in order to gain assistance from Ivy, whose plants had been used to help create the venom. Ivy refused at first in order to let the Joker "have his fun" and eventually agreed after Batman had threatened that every plant would meet its demise if she didn't help him. Ivy informed Batman that the spores needed to create the anti-venom were only located deep in Killer Croc's Lair. Before leaving, Batman instructed Ivy to return to her cell or he'd be back to which Ivy replied that she would be waiting for him.

The Joker subsequently injected the new Titan formula into Ivy's plant system, which had a different effect on unmutated humans: instead of a "monster plant" as the Joker had expected, she remained the same on the outside, but gained an enhancement to her chlorokinetic abilities, inducing rapid growth and evolution amongst her plants, even among the newly mutated plants were a species that produced glowing air born toxic spores.

Ivy took the opportunity to take over the entire island with her newly mutated plants, and vowed to kill Batman and afterward, the Joker himself, much to his delight; and looked forward to the coming battle. Batman eventually returned to the Gardens with the anti-Venom formula, where Ivy beckoned Batman to come to her lair. Along the way, Batman was attacked by two security guards under Ivy's control: William North and Eddie Burlow and was forced to defeat them both.

Batman attempted to inject Ivy's plants with the anti-venom before being stopped by an attacking Ivy, who forced him to contend with more Arkham guards that were infected by her mind-controlling plant spores. The two engaged in a long and strenuous fight that resulted in Ivy's defeat, in which Batman used his Explosive Gel to destroy Ivy's protective shell as well as causing her to lose mental control over the plant. After the Joker's defeat, Ivy was taken back to her cell by the Arkham staff.

Arkham City Lockdown Incident

Sometime after the events of the Asylum takeover, a breakout occurred, allowing patients such as Ivy to run loose. Ivy then set up shop at the Solomon Wayne Courthouse. It was presumably there that she encountered Robin who attempted to take her into custody but was subsequently defeated and controlled by Ivy. Subsequent assaults by members of the GCPD gave her the opportunity to take control of several police officers which she then used against Batman when he finally arrived to take her in.

After defeating the mind-controlled cops, Poison Ivy then sent Robin after him. After Batman knocked him out, Poison Ivy attempted to seduce Batman and put him under her control but Batman took her into custody instead.

After Arkham City Lockdown Incident

Arkham Sirens

The Gotham Sirens target cosmetics mogul Fervor

At some point after the Joker's takeover of the Asylum, Catwoman enlisted the help of both Harley and Ivy to target cosmetics mogul Fervor who was passing through Gotham. Fervor had been accused of destroying exotic plants to fuel her expensive fragrances, a fact that angered Ivy and motivated her involvement in the mission. The three then ambushed Fervor and her bodyguards, where Ivy chided Fervor for her actions in ravaging a rainforest. Batman then intervened, ordering them to stand down.

He then explained that he had actually been assisting their mission from behind the scenes, knocking out Fervor's associates while Catwoman hacked into Fervor's account. Ivy then accused Catwoman of getting Batman involved, which Catwoman denied. Ivy further stated that she had never trusted the arrangement, especially now with Batman's involvement revealed. As she and Catwoman argued, Fervor attempted to slip away, but she was caught by Ivy's vines, with Ivy threatening to kill her for all the green lives she had claimed.

The GCPD then arrived on the scene. Harvey Bullock pulled out his firearm and ordered Ivy to stand down. Batman then pulled Catwoman away from the scene, saving her from being arrested, leaving Harley and Ivy to be booked by the GCPD and returned to Arkham Asylum. Although now in custody, their efforts did yield in Harvey also arresting Fervor.

Ivy settling in Gotham Central Park in Arkham City

Catwoman was known to have visited Ivy at the Asylum once. Ivy made Selina promise that she would nurture her plants.

Like the Joker himself, Ivy soon began to succumb to side effects of the Titan formula. However, Mayor Quincy Sharp instructed his guards to deny Ivy any medical assistance and left her to die.

Locked in solitary confinement, with her body ravaged by her disease, Ivy could only pray for salvation that she was sure would never come. It did come and in the shape of a priest, ironically. Mayor Sharp, confident that she was as good as dead, allowed the priest to give Ivy the last rites. However, she was able to manipulate the pollen on his coat into an antidote for her illness and completely recovered.

Outraged at being cheated out of his pound of flesh, Sharp ordered Ivy to be transferred to Arkham City immediately. It was during that transfer, that Ivy was rescued by Catwoman, who then dropped her off in Gotham Central Park. It seemed that this was part of a plan by Catwoman to gather powerful allies for her future ventures into Arkham City. As the Park was not a part of Arkham City, thus, Ivy was still free. Before leaving, Ivy then made Selina promise once again to water her plants, otherwise there would be consequences.

Desperate to escape from custody, Enigma was able to send word to Ivy, providing her with a briefcase full of cash. In exchange, Ivy provided him with a vial of a special plant liquid that could cause an influx of deadly plants to grow upon contact with metal. Enigma used the vial at the New Resident Registration Facility at Arkham City, allowing him to successfully escape into his new hideout within the City.

Poison Ivy awaiting Catwoman in the Gotham Central Park Gardens in Arkham City

While she plotted to break into Hugo Strange's Confiscated Goods Vault, Catwoman decided to ask Ivy for assistance. When Catwoman entered Ivy's Lair, Ivy attacked her with hypnotized thugs and heat-seeking spores; which Ivy had been preparing for months to rid Arkham of its "flesh-sacks" and replace them with spores. When Catwoman defeated Ivy's thugs, Ivy used one of her vines to ensnare and hang Catwoman upside down, whereupon she expressed her anger over the death of her plants, who Selina was implied to have forgotten to water.

When Ivy stated that the only remaining flower left was within Hugo's Vault, Catwoman offered to retrieve the flower for Ivy if she created a route for her to get into the vault. Ivy agreed reluctantly and used her vines to create an underground tunnel to the vault. Once Catwoman was inside the vault, she spotted Ivy's plant, but threw it on the floor and killed it as revenge for Ivy attacking her. Unfortunately, when she overheard that Batman had been caught in the destruction of the Steel Mill, Catwoman also dropped the items that she had come to steal back and opted to rescue him instead.

Later, Ivy entered Hugo's vault, following the trail of unconscious Tyger Guards until she reviewed the security footage which revealed what Catwoman had done to her plant. As she stared at the remains of her plant, Ivy became enraged, causing spikes to appear in the room and vowing to put her down for good.

Ivy then proceeded to the Joker's headquarters, using her pheromones to bypass the Joker's thugs and greeting Harley. Ivy then made her proposition to Harley and the Joker, asking for Harley's help in exchange for providing assistance to cure the Joker. Harley then proceeded to knock out Batman while Ivy sent a message to Catwoman's apartment, revealing Batman's capture.

Upon arriving back at Ivy's place, Catwoman got into an argument with Ivy and Harley over how Batman's influence over her had jeopardized their group dynamics under the Sirens, and how killing Batman would return things to the way they were before. Catwoman however, argued with that presumption, with Batman adding further pressure when he forced Ivy to admit that she would not be willing to give any cure to Joker.

After Ivy confirmed the story, Harley attacked her from behind, with Harley now siding with Catwoman against Ivy. They then freed Batman, who helped them escape from Ivy's place, with Ivy watching from afar as they escaped.

Later that night, Jervis Tetch arranged to kidnap Ivy, Catwoman, Vicki Vale, the Carpenter and several other women, forcing them to participate in his tea party. At around the same time, Batman noticed a spike of plant and vine growth in the city, with pollen toxicity levels threatening the city. Batman soon tracked the source to Baudelaire's, noting that Ivy was definitely involved in the event but was nowhere to be found. As Batman was informed about the possible link with Vicki Vale's disappearance, he noted the presence of a tea cup filled with liquid.

Upon finally making his way to Tetch's tea party, Batman was forced to face off against Ivy, Catwoman, and the Carpenter, who were all forcibly dressed in a manner fitting for the Alice in Wonderland theme. After a long prolonged fight, Batman took out all three and proceeded to short out microprocessors that served as the "mind bombs" keeping them all under Tetch's service. While Batman was speaking to the Carpenter, she noted that she would probably be busy fixing the hole that Batman blew in Ivy's building, reminding Batman to speak with her.

Upon trying to look for her however, all he found was a vine where Ivy had made her escape, with a rose seemingly left as a peace offering for Batman.

If Catwoman decided to return to Ivy's hideout to see Ivy, she blamed the death of the plant on Hugo Strange. Filled with hatred, Ivy stated she would soon take her revenge on Strange and then all of Gotham.

After Arkham City Incident

Hours after Joker's death, Batman returned to Arkham Asylum and noted that Poison Ivy's vines had grown rampant and destroyed much of the grounds.

Before Arkham Knight Incident

Ivy had taken root in Arkham City, and cultivated her plants with a hope to remain there in peace with them. When Bane and Batman entered her territory, Ivy intervened, rescued Batman, and knocked him unconscious with her pheromones because she would rather sell him to Penguin, Catwoman, or even Bruce Wayne rather than see Bane kill him. All three were blown into the sewers by a trap placed by the Arkham Knight. Ivy escaped the sewers with the help of her plants, but Batman couldn't follow her because Bane had broken his Grapnel Gun. Shortly after, Ivy was captured in by Nightwing in Blüdhaven, but was broken out by Harley Quinn at the request of Scarecrow.

Nature Always Wins

When Scarecrow revealed his plan to take over Gotham with the help of the other super-villains, Ivy turned down his offer to join him. He decided to take her prisoner instead and kill her by using Fear Gas on her. Batman arrived at the safehouse where Ivy was being held in the hope of finding Scarecrow there and knocked out all but one of the militia. The last militia was inside the chamber where Ivy was, held her hostage, and threatened to shoot her if Batman tried to stop them from leaving. When he was about to exit, the Fear Gas suddenly arrived and distracted him, Ivy then knocked out the militia by smashing his head through the glass. After a short conversation, in which she explained what Scarecrow's plans were, Batman was suddenly grabbed by a plant and Ivy tried to leave in an elevator, but Batman had escaped the plant and apprehended her. They were then confronted by the Arkham Knight's militia, who had them cornered. After taking out the drones, Batman took Ivy to the GCPD building to be locked away, so she couldn't interfere with his business later on in the evening.

Some time later, Batman sought Ivy's help to rid Gotham of Scarecrow's Fear Toxin, as she was immune to it. She agreed to help him, as she knew the Fear Gas also affected her plants. Batman let her out of her cell and took her to the Botanical Gardens. Arriving at the gardens, Ivy took control of an old tree, while Batman sought out its roots, so that it could bloom back to its former glory. It was attacked by the Knight's militia, but they were stopped by Batman. He then left her to head to Panessa Studios, because Robin needed his help.

After the skirmish at Panessa Studios, Batman returned to the gardens to warn Ivy that the Knight knew her location, but Ivy refused to leave without her plants. Meanwhile, the Cloudburst was activated, flooded Gotham in Fear Toxin, and overwhelmed Ivy's plants. Ivy used her trees to rid the city of Scarecrow's gas, but her tree wasn't strong enough. She told Batman to wake up another tree, known as Aiyana. Its roots were so deep underground, however, that his sonar waves couldn't reach them. After having headed underground, Aiyana was woken up, but it was put under attack by the Arkham Knight's Militia. Batman and Ivy stopped the drones together and while Ivy took care of the toxin, Batman sought out the Cloudburst Tank and destroyed it.

The death of Poison Ivy

After the Cloudburst was destroyed, Batman contacted Ivy to see how she was holding up, but he couldn't reach her. He returned to the tree to find Ivy looking exhausted. She fell to the ground but refused Batman's help, instead standing back up and giving her everything to finally rid Gotham of Scarecrow's gas. After succeeding, she fell into Batman's arms. She looked at what she had done and uttered her last words - "Nature always wins." - before she died in Batman's arms. After she died, her corpse disintegrated into airborne particles and finally became one with nature.

After her death, a small plant could be seen growing in the place where she died. Lex Luthor would find the plant at the botanical garden where Ivy had died and took it back with him to Metropolis so that he could study and experiment on the plant in LexCorp, and because of either Lex's experiments or Ivy's powers, the plant would eventually reincarnate Poison Ivy five years later in the form of a younger incarnation with no memory of her past life.

Personality

PIDSAA

The enthralling but dangerously psychotic Poison Ivy

Given the effects of the TITAN strain, Poison Ivy was a bonafide psychopath. She held a delimited regard to human life, and often referred humans as "fleshy meat-sacks". Her vision of eradicating all human life for plant life was considered as a form of perfectionism, albeit psychotic.

For most of the franchise, Ivy had shown to have an alluring charm towards men, and often found use in her powers to control them. Much like Catwoman, Poison Ivy was considered as the pinnacle of domination, given how she was able to use mind-control and even her own beauty to have men perform acts against their will.

With her plants, Ivy displayed a motherly affection toward them and was distressed whenever they were harmed or she sensed that they were harmed. This came to show her remorseless regard to humans and love for her plants. The only known human that Poison Ivy truly cared for was Harley Quinn and cared for her enough to be disgusted by how the Joker had treated her.

By the end of Batman: Arkham Knight, the audience was given a second glimpse toward Poison Ivy's character. As she helped Batman in ridding Gotham City from Scarecrow's Fear Toxin, it seemed that she had changed a great deal, even to the point of sacrificing herself in order to save humanity. It was this act that gave her the recognition of a hero, but sadly, she would only glamour in that appellation as her life fell short. Another difference was Ivy's voice. Whereas through the series it had been affectionate, nurturing, and somewhat alluring. In Arkham Knight, Ivy became much more sarcastic. However, when it came to her plants, she took a very serious tone.

Appearance

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Poison Ivy- Arkam Asylum

Due to the effects of her mutation, Poison Ivy had forest green skin, full green eyeballs and green irises. She had full lips, probably because of her red lipstick, and had long red curly hair that was mostly stationary. She had medium sized breasts, a small waist, and considerably wide hips. On the surface of her skin were some leaves and roots that ran along some parts of her body. She wore an undone Arkham Asylum red shirt and wore leaves in the shape of panties. The top of her shirt was buttoned to keep her bosom from being exposed and she did walk barefoot.

Batman: Arkham City

Ivy's appearance was very similar to her Asylum look, except instead of wearing an Arkham Asylum red shirt, she wore a maroon Arkham City top. It had buckles that held the shirt close, although Ivy only used one. There were also buckles on her arms. Her eyeballs were a regular color, although her irises remained green.

Batman: Arkham Knight

9Yci2Fy

As before, Poison Ivy's attire hadn't changed much, but her appearance underwent a major change. Her eyes were much tighter, her hair was worn in a braided bun with flowers on the side and she appeared much older than before. She wore a lighter red shirt with a popped collar. She had gold buttons on the shirt and used two to keep the shirt closed. Unlike her earlier appearances, Ivy wears a collection of small leaves instead of large ones as a substitute for panties; also unlike before, the leaves only cover her front side, as the back of her shirt covers her bottom. Her skin tone was also noticeably less green and looked more human than plant. She also continued to walk barefoot.

As Ivy's life was near its end, there's a grand change to her appearance. Since she was dying, she appeared sickly and her skin began to crack and wrinkle. Contents of the Fear Toxin surged through her body in a red light. As her final moments came, Ivy's skin returned to normal, but her body disintegrated into petals which rained down over Gotham in the aftermath of the Cloudburst detonation.

Psychological Profile

Poison Ivy

Real Name: Dr. Pamela Isley

Dr. Penelope Young

Yet another patient whose treatment is complicated by a bizarre medical condition, Isley has a modified genetic code that incorporates plant DNA and renders her physically toxic to others. She is essentially deeply antisocial, believing herself to be not only inhuman but superior to others; this diagnosis is tied into her hypersexuality, which takes the form of a constant attempt to seduce others to do her bidding. She also displays a narcissistic belief in her role as the protector of the entire natural world.

Additional Notes

Oddly, Isley is another former doctor who is now an inmate (like Harley Quinn).

She seems resentful during our treatment sessions; I believe the fact I'm a woman frustrates her erotomania. She desperately believes that all male residents of Arkham are at least partly in love with her.

I've been looking through her old research papers, many of which were never published. There is some fascinating work there...

Patient Interviews

Tape One

(Patient Interview #41; November 12)

  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Patient interview. Pamela Lillian Isley. November 12, 11:33 AM. Good morning, Pamela. How are you today?
  • Poison Ivy: Fine. Today is a special day.
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: What do you mean?
  • Poison Ivy: This is the anniversary of my new life, when I found my true self, my destiny.
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Are you referring to the event with Dr. Woodrue?
  • Poison Ivy: Yes, what else? Of course, at the time I thought Jason had poisoned me, but in retrospect he did me a huge favor.
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: And why do you believe what he did has... helped you?
  • Poison Ivy: He showed me the bigger world. A world I should protect. Of course, my first offer was rejected.
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Offer? You tried to kill everyone in Gotham.
  • Poison Ivy: Well, sometimes you need to prune back hard in order to make something flourish.

Tape Two

(Patient Interview #42; November 14)

  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Patient interview. Pamela Lillian Isley. November 14, 10:21 AM. Hello, Pamela. Today, I'd like to go back to something you said in our last conversation.
  • Poison Ivy: Ask me anything you like.
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: You said your first offer to help Gotham was rejected, how can you possibly believe that?
  • Poison Ivy: What do you mean?
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: You released thousands of poisonous spores into Gotham, killed hundreds of people. How does that help anybody?
  • Poison Ivy: I'm not interested in bodies, Doctor. Horrible fleshy sacks walking around destroying my poor babies with their greed and arrogance.
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: But aren't you one of those fleshy sacks? You're a...were a doctor too. How can you turn your back on us?
  • Poison Ivy: Quite easily, as it happens, but not you...Stephen. You're different. I feel we have a connection.
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Really? You do? (Dr. Kellerman is slowly being seduced by Ivy's mind control and is falling under her spell)
  • Poison Ivy: Of course..

Tape Three

(Patient Interview #43; November 15)

  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Pamela! I got you what you asked for. Do you like it?
  • Poison Ivy: Oh yes, Stephen, I love it. Such a beautiful flower. Do you mind it if i keep it?
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Oh no, Pamela. I can't leave it. It's against all the rules. I'll just bring it and show it to you when I visit.
  • Poison Ivy: But it's me, Stephen. I get so lonely on my own. You wouldn't want me to be lonely, would you?
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: No, of course not. Keep it. Just don't let anyone see it. Really. No one.
  • Poison Ivy: You can trust me, Stephen. Thank you. Now give me a kiss.
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: I can't... people will see.
  • Poison Ivy: No one's watching. What is wrong with you? Don't you love me? Call me Ivy.
  • Dr. Stephen Kellerman: Of course I love you.

Tape Four

(Patient Interrogation # 1; November 17)

  • Warden Quincy Sharp: Where is Doctor Kellerman?
  • Poison Ivy: How should I know, Warden? It does seem careless of you to have lost him.
  • Warden Quincy Sharp: I have no time for your games Miss Isley. Tell me where you have him. We have security footage of you and him leaving your cell last night.
  • Poison Ivy: So?
  • Warden Quincy Sharp: Do I need to spell it out? We know you hypnotized him, or whatever it is that you do. We know he took you somewhere, but conveniently, security cameras across the island were mysteriously covered by leaves and flowers at 3 AM. Now tell me where he is!
  • Poison Ivy: I’m not saying a word unless you do exactly what I tell you to do.

Tape Five

(Patient Interrogation # 3; November 18)

  • Warden Quincy Sharp: We found him. No thanks to you. The poor man could have died.
  • Poison Ivy: So?
  • Warden Quincy Sharp: He has a wife. A child.
  • Poison Ivy: As do the plants he tramples underfoot. The spores he breathes in and destroys have children. Why does he deserve anything more than them? You people ignore what is happening in front of your eyes.
  • Warden Quincy Sharp: I refuse to put the welfare of plants before the welfare of people.
  • Poison Ivy: And that is why you will lose. There's more happening than you know, Warden. It’s all connected.

  • "Do you really think you can beat mother nature?"
  • "Don't let her hurt me." (Catwoman)
  • "If you're still breathing, it's not over."
  • "Never!"
  • "You've got some nerve, Selina."
  • "You should have watered them. You said you would water them. Now there's only one left and Strange has it, sealed in his vault."
  • "I should kill you."
  • "FINE!"
  • "OUT! NOW!"
  • "I told you to go!"
  • "You're lucky that I don't expand the spores in your body to choke you to death. Go. Now."
  • "You meat sacks are all the same. Go away."
  • "I told you to go."
  • "You're all going to do whatever I say. Whatever I want." (Hypnotized Henchmen)
  • "Don't worry, my darlings, you're all safe now." (Hypnotized Henchmen)
  • "Don't fight, boys. I love you all too." (Hypnotized Henchmen)
  • "I won't let anyone hurt you again." (Hypnotized Henchmen)
  • "We're all perfectly safe now." (Hypnotized Henchmen)
  • "Where have you been? Where is my...You haven't got it, have you?" (Ivy's Plant from the TYGER Confiscated Goods Vault)
  • "I'll kill him!" (Hugo Strange)
  • "I'll kill all of you!"
  • "Yes, go! Join the rest of the meat. I'll destroy them all. First Strange, then Gotham. No one will be safe."
  • "This world will suffer because of that meat sack." (Hugo Strange)
  • "I'll grow plants in their veins."
  • "I'll rip Gotham apart."

Arkham Knight

  • "Harley. Come to free me? Again." (Harley Quinn Story Pack)
  • "Need some help?" (Harley Quinn Story Pack)
  • "I'm here because your boss has an Inferiority Complex. After all, he is just a human." (Scarecrow's Henchmen)
  • (Scarecrow's Henchmen: I have seen it with my own eyes. One of the guys who brought her in got torn apart by some giant tentacle.) "You make it sound so crass. It was...beautiful."
  • "Do your worst. The boredom is killing me."(Scarecrow's Henchmen)
  • "Look who it is. I can't say that I'm surprised."
  • "You should really review your security."(Scarecrow's Henchmen)
  • "I've seen trees with faster reflexes."
  • "Something tells me that this wasn't part of the plan."(Batman rescuing her from Scarecrow's Henchmen)
  • "Well, that's made things a little more interesting."(After Scarecrow's Henchmen are taken down by Batman)
  • "Charming... but only one of us is getting out of this cell."(Scarecrow's Henchman)
  • "Nothing like a little natural immunity." (After Scarecrow's toxin only kills the henchman)
  • "What are you doing here?"
  • "No hello?"
  • (Batman: "Tell me!") "And what if I don't want to?"
  • "It started with the meeting."
  • "Everyone was there: Penguin, Two-Face, Riddler, even poor Harley." (Batman)
  • "Scarecrow said he had a plan. That together we could take you out, and Gotham would be ours."
  • (Batman: "Over my dead body.") "I believe that was the idea."
  • "I told him that I wasn't interested in his pathetic human games. And when I came to... I was locked up in that room." (Scarecrow)
  • "It's such a shame that his vile toxin has no effect on me." (Scarecrow's Fear Toxin)
  • "Nature always wins."
  • "Will he ever learn?"(After Batman is attacked by her vines)
  • (Batman: "You're coming with me.") "You only had to ask."
  • "What's wrong?"
  • (Batman: "We need to leave.") "The master of understatement, as ever."
  • "Who taught you to drive?"
  • "Honestly, why do you even bother with these meat-sacks?"
  • "Oh, good, another cell."
  • "You feel safer now that I'm all locked up?"
  • "You know these walls won't hold me for long. Still, if it makes you feel safer, I'll indulge the fantasy... for now."
  • "Locking me up is a sign of desperation, Batman. I can see it in your eyes. You're afraid."
  • "You can't lock me in here like some... human."
  • "From where I'm standing, you need a miracle."
  • "You are scared."
  • "And I should trust you why?"
  • "I created a spore to counter Crane's toxin. It's easy when you know how... and can manipulate plants on a molecular level."
  • (Batman: "Could it protect the entire city?") "Theoretically... but there's no way I can produce enough on my own."
  • (Batman: "Where to?") "The Botanical Gardens. They're the oldest plants in Gotham. They'll tell me what we need to do."
  • "Try and get me to the Botanical Gardens in one piece, Batman. Or you can kiss that miracle goodbye."
  • "Look at her. She's been here since before Man walked the Earth. She still holds great power."
  • "But she's weak... poisoned by decades of pollution."
  • "She won't be able to fight Scarecrow's toxin on her own."
  • (Batman: "Then we need another.") "There aren't any left like her. Not anymore."
  • (Batman: "What happened?") "What do you think? Man. You cut them back, built over them, stopped them from reaching the sun."
  • "They're lost, buried beneath this concrete monstrosity. How will you..."
  • "Follow the roots. They'll take you where you need to go."
  • "She's not dead. Just forgotten. I can bring her back."
  • "Yes. She's calling louder."
  • "They're attacking my plant. Protect her!" (The Arkham Knight's Militia)
  • "I can make her bark harder than steel. But I need time."

  • "Keep them away." (The Arkham Knight's Militia)
  • "I need more time."
  • "Keep fighting, Batman."
  • "Protect her, Batman. Just a little longer."
  • "It's done. She's fully mature. She should be strong enough to neutralize Scarecrow's toxin."
  • (Batman: "You just gave away your location.") "It's time for Scarecrow to pay for what he did to me."
  • (Batman: "I hope you're ready. He's going to throw everything he's got at us.") "I'll wreck his little tin toys." (The Arkham Knight's Drones)
  • "Stay and fight, Batman!"
  • "My vines will crush them!" (The Arkham Knight's Drones)
  • "Nothing can stop me."
  • "Be wary Batman, they're sending something bigger to stop us." (The Arkham Knight's Cobra Tanks)
  • "I can't help you further, Batman. I'm not strong enough, yet."
  • "I won't leave them. They can't do it alone. They need me."
  • "It's worse than I thought!" (The Cloudburst)
  • "My plants are dying." (The Cloudburst)
  • "You need to destroy that device or my plants won't be able to protect Gotham." (The Cloudburst)
  • "We'll both die unless you stop him." (To Batman about Scarecrow)
  • "GO!"
  • "I can't Batman. My plants are too weak."
  • "There's a tree buried deep beneath Founder's Island. The Miagani people called her Aiyana."
  • "Hurry. Please."
  • "It's free." (Aiyana)
  • "You need to protect it. I don't know how much longer I can hold on." (To Batman about Aiyana)
  • "Batman, I've cleared as much of the toxin as I can. You must find the Cloudburst. It's killing my plants."
  • "Nature always wins." (Ivy's last words)

Trivia

  • After the events of Arkham Asylum, Poison Ivy was shown being wheeled on a gurney back to her own cell. However, when the player decided to return to her cell after the final cutscene, Ivy was absent and the cell remained empty, as did the entire island. That was because the game returned to the moment before the fight with Joker, as evidenced by the fireworks display.
  • Despite being one of Batman's most famous and most dangerous foes, Ivy only acts as a direct threat to Batman in Arkham Asylum. In Arkham City, she was more of an antagonist to Catwoman and had nothing to do with Batman and in Arkham Knight, she wasn't even an antagonist at all, rather being something akin to an ally of the protagonist, or anti-hero.
  • In Arkham Asylum, Ivy has a cloud of spores coming from her hair. However, after Joker injects her with some Titan, the cloud vanishes and never reappears in the series.
  • In Arkham Asylum, it was revealed that the incident between Dr. Jason Woodrue and Ivy occurred on the 12th of November.
  • Batman: Assault on Arkham was the only Arkham media where Poison Ivy had no lines, excluding some sounds that she made.
  • Poison Ivy was known to have worked under Dr. Jason Woodrue. In many continuities, Woodrue was a plant-based villain of his own, and operated under the name of "Floronic Man" or "Seeder".
  • It's probable that Ivy was a Catholic since a priest was called in to give her the last rites and she actively prayed.
  • Poison Ivy is the second villain with a game over screen that includes a member of the Batfamily, appearing alongside Robin in Arkham City Lockdown; the first one was Bane in Arkham Asylum.
  • It was suggested that Ivy may have used her power over pheromones to make Dr. Young fall in love with her as she kissed Ivy's profile picture and left a lipstick mark. A more likely possibility was that Ivy saw her own profile and that it was actually her lipstick. However, Dr. Young's notes states that Ivy can only use her pheromones on men (which may explain why Ivy was often annoyed, reticent and recalcitrant towards her during their sessions); as noted, Ivy is somewhat of a nymphomaniac.
  • During her initial lock up in GCPD, Officer Boulden expressed a feeling of attraction towards Ivy and asked Batman whether it was normal for having such feeling. He blamed it on the horticulture course he took in college.
  • With the release of Batman: Arkham Knight, Poison Ivy was the only member of the Gotham Sirens who never had a playable appearance in any of the games.
    • Sadly, however, she is also the only member of the Gotham Sirens who passed away.
  • It appeared in Arkham City that Ivy's powers had grown, as she was shown to have greater control over humans. She also claimed to have perfected her new pheromone formulas, a reference to her former status as a scientist.
  • Poison Ivy's presence in Arkham City came with the Catwoman Bundle: she appeared in two out of four parts.
  • Ivy seemed to have the strongest of all mind-controlling powers as she was able to control the TYGER Guards who were under the influence of Strange and the hypnotic chips that were designed by the Mad Hatter.
  • Both Catwoman and Harley Quinn nicknamed Ivy "Red" due to her hair. The three sometimes worked together, often enough to be dubbed the "Gotham Sirens" when they were referred to as a group.
  • Ivy and Catwoman were the only characters that Hugo Strange still had possessions of, but only Poison Ivy did not have hers by the end of the main campaign of Batman: Arkham City, as Catwoman both recovered her jewels and destroyed Ivy's plant.
  • Ivy's flower shop, the Baudelaire in Park Row was straight out of the episode "Fleurs du Mal" from the 2004 TV series: "The Batman".
  • Ivy was extremely loyal to Harley, and saw her as her only real friend and the only human (with the possible exception of Selina) who was worth something in the whole world. In comparison, she utterly hated the Joker with a passion and believed him to be a monster for the way that he had treated Harley.
    • In recent comic book history, her relationship with Harley became "friends with benefits"; Ivy had finally admitted to herself that she loved Harley.
  • Ivy swore vengeance on Gotham for what happened to her plant in Arkham City. However, and similarly to Mr. Freeze and Catwoman, she allied with Batman against Scarecrow in Arkham Knight, and redeemed herself by sacrificing her life in saving the city.
  • It was unknown if Catwoman or Harley were aware of Ivy's death.
    • It can also be considered odd that Batman didn't tell Selina about Ivy when he rescued her from the Riddler. He was certainly, however, aware of the existing friendship between the two.
  • After Ivy's death, Jack Ryder might mention that he had a theory in which Poison Ivy might still be alive, with her consciousness surviving through the plants. As of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, this is confirmed to be true.
  • Ivy's leaf panties changed depending on what story she was in.
    • In Asylum and City, it looked like she was wearing leaves over regular albiet tanga style underwear.
    • In the film, Ivy is only wearing a single leaf wrapped by vines; similar to a G string.
    • In Knight the leaves are very small and collage into the shape of a bikini.
